Micro dermals are one
of the newest and safest procedures to come out of the body mod scene in America. They are essentially a permanent piercing.
A small plate with a threaded stem on it is inserted under the skin, between the dermis and the sub-dermis, a disk is then
screwed into the threaded post (sometimes if the skin is a little thick or swells slightly more than expected, we use a healing
post instead of a disk). The skin then heals around the micro dermal implant anchoring it ito place. They can
be removed by making a small incision with a bladed needle and popping the plate back out. Some people use a scaple
to remove dermals, however this is unncessary, a bit like using a sledge hammer to crack a walnut!
Micro dermals are a great alternative
to surface piercing having a much lower rejection rate when the procedure is carried out correctly and looked after well.
So not only do they look awesome but they can also save you money!
As a responsible practioner of the micro dermal procedure, Hook and Eye must reiterate that
micro dermals are a PERMANENT piercing, they are not just for Christmas and if you do get them you MUST NOT attempt to remove
them yourself.
